Dance is a moving work of art, constantly changing and reflecting its audience, environment and performers. That creative process can enhance students' overall academic achievement, as shown in a national Arts Education Partnership study. The 2002 study found dance helps build creative thinking, originality and elaboration skills; develops physical flexibility; improves self-expression, social tolerance, self-esteem and persistence. Wild Space's outreach program, Dance Enhance, offers a range of workshops, classes, lectures and performances exploring this relationship. During the 2005-2006 season, Wild Space reached 2,938 young people and adults through its outreach programs in Milwaukee, Appleton, and Whitewater

Workshop and residencies are flexible and tailored to the specific needs and interests of a group, and can include single workshops, multi-week residenceis, teacher orientations, lecture demonstrations and performances by the company and students. Spanish bilingual classes also available.

Dancing Aloud

Following the residency, students will perform the original works at Lincoln Center Middle School of the Arts.

Kids in Space

A child’s imagination is the key to fun, adventure and learning through Kids in Space, Wild Space’s early childhood program.  Kids in Space is an engaging way for toddlers and preschoolers to develop those key skills, while exploring movement, rhythm and dance.  Classes begin with simple stretches, then move into skill-building activities.  Shapes, sounds and storytelling help children to learn simple patterns and to create their own movements, individually and in groups.  Classes are 30 to 45 minutes and are tailored to individual skill levels, from three to six years old.
