The colorful early settlement of Milwaukee’s Jones Island becomes an evocative Map of Memories in Wild Space Dance Company’s season finale. Wild Space merges expressive contemporary dance with images and text

inspired by the stories of Polish, Kaszubian and Eastern European immigrants who founded the Island’s

fishing village in the 1870s.

Prior to the evening performances, Milwaukee historian and author John Gurda will reveal the island’s journey from thriving fishing village to harbor hub.

This performance is made possible, in part by the Wisconsin Humanities Council, Milwaukee Arts Board, Polanki - Polish Women's Cultural Club of Milwaukee, and CAMPAC.  The Wisconsin Humanities Council supports public programs that engage the people of Wisconsin in the exploration of human cultures, ideas and values. Wild Space is an affiliate member of the United Performing Arts Fund.
